Molly O'Mahony | Ferna | Sasha Samara

A Triple Bill

Over a year on from the release of her critically-acclaimed debut album ‘The House of David’, Molly O’Mahony returns to Levis’ Cornerhouse , to showcase some new material, and to share some stripped back versions of songs from the album.

“Stunning, impressive and evocative…” Alexandra Anderson, Hotpress

“A multi-hyphenate artist…her debut album ably showcases this with a collection of songs that,… document years of a life fully lived, loved, lost and then, gradually, reclaimed..” Tony Clayton Lea, The Irish Times

“Mingling romantic vignettes with loving dedications to platonic friendships, sibling adoration and familial loyalty, her undeniably rich, soothing voice tells each story with passion, delicacy and care.” Kate Brayden, Hotpress

From the North Coast of Ireland, ferna tells the stories that otherwise get lost in the noise.

On a mission to amplify quiet sentiments and shift focus to background characters, ferna delivers a remarkable sound that merges the organic and the electronic, filled with mixed emotions, fragile beauty and powerful hooks.

The musical alias of composer & singer-songwriter Hannah McPhillimy, ferna took home the NI Music Prize for Single of the year 2022 for her first official release Wasting and has already performed alongside Saint Sister, JC Stewart and Foy Vance. Her debut album understudy was released in May 2023 to a packed-out Belfast Empire Music Hall and has received multiple rave reviews including four stars in The Irish Times.

Praise for Understudy

“**** 10 songs that blend indie sensibilities, confident pop music and tender folksiness.”

“Understudy is nothing less than a hugely impressive debut album…as Ferna, Hannah McPhillimy is now displaying the confidence & poise of a bona fide star.”

“Coleraine songsmith delivers world class debut.”

Sasha Samara is an exciting, new voice in indie pop music. Coating her music in an endearing honesty, she threads together observations and exclamations that are underlined by a thrilling specificity. All of this is achieved through open and soaring vocals reminiscent of Hayley Williams and writing with the characteristic clarity of Maggie Rogers.
With support from PRSF funded ‘Scratch My Progress’ program, and a Northern Irish Music Prize for Best New Artist in 2020, Sasha has been carefully cultivating her debut EP, which she released in May 2023. It received support from HotPress and Nialler9, as well as radio play from BBC Radio Ulster and Cool FM. The lead single, ‘Sobering Up’ was selected as Tracy Clifford’s Track of the Week on RTÉ 2FM and was featured on their playlists throughout the summer.
