This Spring we’re delighted to see Ger Wolfe returning to Levis’ Cornerhouse in downtown Ballydehob to launch a new and 8th album, a compilation simply entitled “Ger Wolfe and The New Skylarks – Melody Bright and The Favourite Sparrow” at 9pm on Friday 8th March in the company of The New Skylarks including Paul Frost on double bass and Martin Leahy on drums, plus special surprise guests soon to be made known..
Including the brand new single “Love is in The Lost and Found”, this CD is a collection of some of Ger’s finest work to date in a career spanning two decades and highlighting the sheer depth of original material he has recorded with his band ‘The New Skylarks’ having a back catalogue of seven full albums to date.
Skylarking on the night will be long-term collaborators Martin Leahy (drums), who recorded and engineered Ger’s 2014 album ‘I Have Been Loved’ and the brilliant Paul Frost bass player extraordinaire.
No stranger to West Cork, Ger & The Skylarks have featured in the Levis schedule heavily over the last three or four years. “With venues like Levis’ Corner House we as musicians and lovers of music are elected, it’s like having your very own Carnegie hall without the complications inherent in booking such a venue”, quips the singer.
Expect songs like ‘The Curra Road’, ‘Standing in Doorways (also from ‘Other Voices’ series 1), the Africana influenced ‘I Have Been Loved’ and other Ger classics like ‘The Lark of Mayfield’ and “Heaven Paints her Holy Mantle Blue”. As well as special guest Diarmuid de Bhulf playing his own brand of brand new music. A great night of music and banter is guaranteed. Don’t miss out on the launch.
Tickets from the bar and on the night but book early to avoid disappointment.
